Everything in Politscape — Free

A complete grand strategy experience in your browser. Ground forces, navies, air power, diplomacy, research, and economic simulation — all free, all open source.

⚔️

Ground Divisions

Recruit, move, and command infantry and armoured divisions across every province on the world map. Set waypoints, split stacks, and execute encirclement manoeuvres.

Combat is resolved using strength values, terrain modifiers, supply line status, and research bonuses. Encircled units suffer compounding penalties. Battle trend bars — powered by the Rust/WASM core — update in real time.

Naval Fleets

Deploy warships across sea regions to blockade enemy coasts, protect trade convoys, and support coastal landings.

Sea regions are large ocean zones connecting coastal provinces. Naval orders include patrol, blockade, and convoy escort. Controlling a sea region denies the enemy its trade income and isolates coastal provinces from reinforcement.

✈️

Air Units

Build air wings and deploy them from airbases to provide close support, strategic bombing, and reconnaissance.

Air range scales with your aviation research level. F6 drones unlock at advanced research tiers, providing extended reach without conventional aircraft losses. Air units deployed over contested provinces provide combat bonuses to friendly ground forces.

🤝

Diplomacy System

Negotiate alliances, arrange diplomatic meetings, join political blocs, and vote on international resolutions.

Meeting outcomes depend on relationship scores, military balance, and your negotiating position. Bloc membership unlocks shared economic and military bonuses. Coalition building through votes can impose international pressure on aggressive players without open war.

🔬

Research and Technology

Advance your military and economic capabilities through a multi-tier research tree with dozens of technologies.

Military research improves unit strength, air range, and naval effectiveness. Economic research reduces corruption and unlocks new industry types. Special projects — including nuclear deterrence — require sustained multi-turn investment.

💰

Economic Simulation

Manage income, spending, debt, trade routes, tariffs, and national companies in a full economic model.

Running a deficit accumulates debt that triggers credit rating downgrades, increasing borrowing costs. Trade routes require sea region control. Tariff rates balance domestic protection against trade revenue. National companies supplement government income.

🌍

Real World Map

Play on a detailed world map with every country divided into individually capturable provinces, rendered via MapLibre GL.

The map uses vector tile rendering for smooth zoom and pan at any scale. Capitals, cities, terrain, rivers, mountain ranges, and lakes are all visible. Switch between globe and flat Mercator projection at any time.

🌊

Climate and Environment

A climate simulation engine models environmental conditions that affect unit movement, supply efficiency, and economic output.

Climate effects vary by region and season. River crossings, mountain ranges, and coastal terrain all create realistic friction for military operations.

🏙️

Province and City System

Every province contains cities, infrastructure, and population that contribute to your national income and manpower pool.

City battles are distinct from open-field combat — urban fighting is slower and more costly. Capturing capitals destabilises the defending nation, reducing their manpower regeneration and triggering diplomatic consequences.

🌐

Multiplayer

Play against real opponents on a shared world map with in-game chat, moderated messaging, and real-time state sync.

Multiplayer sessions use Supabase for real-time synchronisation. In-game chat supports direct and broadcast messages with automatic content moderation.

🦀

Rust/WebAssembly Core

All combat simulation, movement resolution, and economic calculations run in a Rust core compiled to WebAssembly for native performance in the browser.

The Rust/WASM core handles combat modifiers, movement validation, sea region adjacency, trade route resolution, and fiscal calculations. The JavaScript layer drives UI and map rendering; Rust drives simulation accuracy.
